Barnes Farms Genetics 5019

Sired by the 0220 ram, BFG 5019 looks to be a good one!  Chad and Molley used him on one half
of the Glenn High ewes they purchased last fall.  This should make a great cross.

I had the opportunity to judge the Junior Shropshire Show at the Middle Tennessee Valley Fair last weekend.  The quality ran deep with 48 head shown and the Champion Shropshire Ewe became Supreme Champion Ewe congratulation to Taylor Young.
As I look back at the Shropshire breed in our era of slick shearing the result are unbelievable!
The muscle shape, the hide , the correctness of the skeleton, and the design are unmatched from previous eras.
Yes, breed character can be variable but only a few were outside the range of acceptable in this show.
The young Shropshire breeders have their direction for the breed and are doing an excellent job of selecting sheep that fit into their vision.

Updated website

Thanks to Carol Wise for redesigning our website.  We have gone to a single page with our contact information and new pictures.
From the 2015 Ohio State Fair three Shrops in the top five but our neatest win was BFG 5026 Champion Tunis Ram in the junior show and he was slick shorn!

Thanks to Randy and Julie Rife for taking a couple of our stud rams to Dr Tad Thompson to be semen collected for next fall.  I feel that Tunis 4013 is a thick, level topped, and square hipped ram. Few others have this muscle shape!  We will have several lambs sired by him this Spring.

Lambing has started!  A nice Tunis ewe lamb sired by Magic was born early this morning.  This lamb came from an artificial insemination procedure done on August 5, 2014 at Randy and Julie Rife's farm.
